UC Berkeley Offers Intro Chemistry Online Course

New Online Course given at UC Berkeley

As online college courses become more and more popular, universities are providing online courses to provide opportunities for students that wouldn’t otherwise be able to take a specific course. A notice went out to California community college counselors announcing an additional online course that UC Berkeley was providing.

Online Courses in Chemistry

With all the cutbacks in education recently in California, it’s getting harder for students at all levels to complete vital requirements. To address this need and to move Introduction Chemistry instruction into the 21st Century at UC Berkeley, they unveiled an exciting new online course, Chem W1A, that will enable students to learn introductory chemistry in an energizing, interactive online format. This extraordinary introductory chem course is tailored to students with challenging schedules and commutes. Its quality far exceeds typical online courses, and its innovative format, developed with the support of the Dreyfus Foundation, encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and depth of learning.

Info on the Chem Online Course

Chem W1A:

fully covers the content of Berkeley’s 3 unit into chemistry course, Chem 1A;
includes first-‐rate lectures, demonstrations, Chem Quizzes, and interactive discussion;
utilizes studio footage for a visually exciting experience; and
is particularly suited to non-chemistry majors.

It’s important to note that Chem W1A is transferable for 3 units of UC Berkeley credit. The Lab portion Chem 1AL, is also available on campus.
