In a recent email to community college counselors, San Jose State University (SJSU) posted some important changes to their upcoming admissions processes.

San José State University will begin accepting applications from upper division transfer students (students with 60 or more transferable semester units and the four basic skills completed) beginning on August 1 through August 31, 2010.

The SJSU capacity to process and admit applications for the Spring 2011 term will be entirely dependent on increased funding for the CSU’s through the passage of the California state budget.  Because the state budget remains in limbo, you should do the following:

  1. Monitor your student account (MySJSU) for more information about the processing of your application, frequently.
  2. Monitor the California budget situation between now and October 1 – if the situation improves and is enacted prior to the Fall 2011 application cycle, we will post specific information and instructions to your MySJSU account regarding the requirements to process your application.

San José State University is not accepting spring 2011 applications from first-time freshmen, lower division transfers, and those seeking a second bachelor’s degree. SJSU is not accepting any undergraduate applications from international students.

Graduate and Special Session Programs for Spring 2011:
SJSU will accept applications for a limited number of special session (self-support) professional, graduate level programs offered in Spring 2011. In addition, SJSU will accept applications to our Single, Multiple Subject and Early Childhood Special Education Credential programs.

PLEASE NOTE: Applications are term-specific which means that SJSU will not defer or roll forward your application or admission from term to term. To guarantee review for Fall 2011 admission, apply between October 1, 2010 and November 30, 2010 (a very simple process if you have already filled out an application for spring admission).
