The words “women” and “higher education” didn’t always go together. It took years and the effort of many significant figures in history to pave the way for women to attend the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. Unsatisfied with the limitation of career choices in the past, these days there are women graduating with degrees in majors that have notoriously been identified as being tailored for men. Below are some of the most popular college degrees women are obtaining and utilizing with full force in the workplace.  In addition to these great careers opportunities such as Scholarships for Moms and women have increased as well.

Business DegreesCollege Degrees for Women

Watch out, Donald Trump, there are more and more female versions of you cropping up in the business world that are a force to be reckoned with. Upon graduation, these women have gone on to get hired at key positions within the largest corporations and companies and assume leadership roles in the areas of finance, sales, management and consulting. Additionally, there are a number of women with Business degrees that tap into their entrepreneurial spirit by starting up their own businesses. These ladies are calling the shots and have the career development and skills to back it up.

Healthcare Degrees

When it comes to healthcare and other related medical professions, women have almost always taken on the role of nurse practitioner, receptionist and other positions dealing with running a doctor’s office or interacting with patients. However, female college students are setting their sights even higher. Healthcare degrees continue to be popular with women but are now producing even more female physical therapists, medical billing and coding staff, nursing home administrators and patient relations liaisons, among many others. These are career choices that carry authority and the ability to lead a team of medical professionals.

Education Degrees

Female college students continue to impact Education degree programs at colleges and universities around the country. Obtaining an Education degree gives these women the opportunity to work with children, teens and young adults in a hands-on environment. In addition to elementary teaching, many women that graduate with an Education degree lends their skills and training to working with special needs students. Some even go on to branch out into childhood psychology and work with at-risk youth.

Psychology Degrees

Like Education, Psychology degree programs are another major that continues to be impacted by female college students. Pursuing a Psychology degree has allowed a number of women to open their own practices, lend their expertise and skills to a variety of organizations, offer consulting services, become teachers and even provide their professional opinions in sales related professions.

Visual Arts Degrees

Think graphic design school, animation and video game design degrees are just for the boys? Think again. More women are getting their Visual Arts degrees these days, which has introduced a feminine touch into many workplaces that specialize in graphic arts, multimedia design, visual performance and even the entertainment fields.

Biology/Biomedical Sciences Degrees

Women graduating with a degree in Biology or Biomedical Sciences are finding themselves employed at the top research facilities, where they contribute to all aspects of research, teaching, testing and developing various medical technologies. From creating the latest generation of life-saving medical instruments and devices to finding the cure for cancer, women are making strides in this particular industry.

Given these trends, it’ll only be a matter of time before the concept of a “boy’s job” and a “girl’s job” is completely thrown out the window.
