Online college courses offered for Engineering majors

U of M Online College Courses
Today, the University of Maine released their Fall 2010 schedule of all online college courses they will be offering in the College of Engineering. As more schools find that online college classes are desirable for various reasons, course offerings available via the internet are expanding. These online classes are sought out by college students because of the flexibility it provides with work schedules, friends, family and study time. Additionally, depending on the major, more students who have grown up with technology have a natural gravitation towards these classes.
Online College Courses
The following eleven online engineering courses are being offered through the Maine Advanced Technology and Engineering Center.
These online college courses will specifically use Adobe Connect Pro, which allows the courses to be received on any computer with a high speed internet connection.
According to the University of Maine:
Students can text message instructor during class, ask questions, and if student’s computer has a camera, the instructor will be able to see them. No software is needed for the receiving computer – it is all web based. Although this is a synchronous course and students are expected to attend during the class time, the lectures will be recorded so that students can watch them at a later time.

- Random Variables and Stochastic Processes
- Microprogramming
- Alternative Energy Seminar
- Renewable Energy & Electricity Production
- Aeronautics
- Finite Elements in Solid Mechanics
- Formal Foundations for Information Science
- Information Systems Law
- Engineering Databases and Information Systems
- Spatial Information Systems
