An Increase in Government Grants for College Students
( San Francisco, CA)- Welcome to our modern age in America, where everyday we find ourselves worrying if we’re going to be able to pay our bills, rent, insurance, etc… This is because our economy has taken a tumble in the past few years, and the taxpayers have to bear the brunt of our government’s excesses.
Many college students rely on federal Pell grants to help get them through their school year, but find that most of the time, their grant doesn’t even cover a third of what their tuition is! Which leaves them with two thirds of cost to cover either with loans or other means of making up that crucial difference such as college scholarships. But with the new Pell grant that was unveiled earlier this year and now in effect, students are receiving at least $200 more than they were receiving last year, putting them close to $4000. Though, poorer students showing high academic merit find that they now receive close to $10000 in benefits, which is a great burden off the shoulders of those who have no way to pay for their educations!
The great thing about a Pell grant is that the better you do academically, the more money you qualify for as your years go on. It’s not unlikely to see an entire education paid with a government grant with no out of pocket expenses going to the student at all. You can even get the government to buy your textbooks for you!
The great thing is that if you don’t qualify for a Pell grant, there are many other grants that you do qualify for! There isn’t just one government grant, there are thousands of them – and it’s up to you to find which one is just right for you. There are many lists on the Internet describing these grants and how to apply for them. They’re not hard too find and it only takes a little bit of searching to save yourself thousands of dollars in the future and to be able to finally go to college, something that Americans need this day in age.
A college education is becoming highly prized as less people are able to go to college due to our economic swing, but the government is trying its best to stabilize our education system, and the area of government grants is definitely something that has gotten a good overhaul in the past year. Now anyone who wants to go to college will be able to, and with the extra money put into these grants, it’ll be even more affordable to attend.
