High School Senior Linebacker Will Choose From Four Colleges

San Antonio, TX (CollegeToCareers.com) – Hermitage High School senior Curtis Grant is one of the most highly recruited football players in the state of Texas. He received not less than 27 scholarship offers for the 2011/2012 school year from reputable colleges throughout the country. He still hasn’t made up his mind, but announced his four finalists: Virginia College, New Florida College, North Carolina University and Ohio State University. He is to pick one by February 2nd.
Grant has paid taken official visits to Virginia and Ohio State and said he was delighted by what they were offering him. However, he still has to meet in person with representatives from the other two colleges. Will Muschamp, the new coach from New Florida, already called him up within days of his taking the job to introduce himself. From the very beginning, Muschamp put forward his wish that he’d be honored to train Grant and turn him into one of America’s best athletes. Virginia coach Mike London also got in touch with him early in the fall, but allegedly Grant told him he wasn’t interested in Virginia. Looks like things have changed now, since Virginia College is still in Grant’s books. Voices say London’s recruiting abilities aren’t to be neglected: he already brought in some of the best players in the state of Virginia, such as Bayside cornerback Demetrious Nicholson.
Grant is currently in San Antonio, training for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He was nominated as one of the six finalists for this season’s U.S. Army Player of the Year award, which is due to be announced this Friday during the All-American Bowl festivities. Whether or not he wins the award won’t count towards his admission to any college, as educational institutes are already literally fighting over him.
One of the main criteria in his choice, said Grant, is to get in a college that will allow him to play in the freshman year. None of the four colleges were able to guarantee it so far, but he feels that there is still room for negotiation. New Florida and North Carolina representatives told him that they will let him play if he manages to beat the players ahead of him, but this doesn’t narrow down the choices too much, as both colleges have talented linebackers who aren’t going to play next year.
