Georgia High Schools Students Can Take Free PSATs

Atlanta, Georgia – One of the great things about going to school in Georgia was the ability to take the PSAT for free as a Sophomore. This provided high school students with the opportunity to take advantage of the many educational tools that are readily available in this modern day and age. However, there were some issues that forced the State of Georgia to cut the funding for these free PSATs out of their budget.

The Main Reason for This, Lack of Funding

We’re facing hard times when it comes to getting sufficient funding that’s demanded every year by college students. Many states have been forced to cut back their college programs, college grants, and college scholarships just to be able to make it to another year. Sure, enrollment rates are seeing their highs, but this has created an unpredicted storm that’s definitely leaving a mess that needs to be cleaned up.

The cleanup that we need just might be provided by our federal government.

Next week, federal officials will meet with state official to decide whether or not this proposal will go through, but the idea is to earmark funds from the “Race to Top” program (one million bucks to be exact) specifically for the free PSATs that students have been offered up until recently when they attended a public Georgia high school.

Many Criticize This Move

Many people are saying that this isn’t the wisest decision for the Georgia Department of Education to make at the current time. They don’t think that the PSATs being offered to high school students is making a big enough impact to justify that big of an educational expenditure. However, education officials insists that the impact it makes is one of the best that they could ever ask for.
