The only real way in finding out whether or not a particular college is right for you is to actually visit the college campus in person.

It is advised that you actually take some time to visit the college and possibly even go to some of the classes to make sure you appreciate the environment and learning style that they provide.

You can even spend a night on campus, get to know the students and the professors, and really get to know therefore the entire college and what it is about. You need to immerse yourself in the college prior to actually making your big decision.

You also are advised to start writing even the Summer before you’re going to your chosen college(s).

You can check out the students’ common application form on the Internet to know exactly what is expected of you. Honestly, the college applications is dreaded by many but very important to all. The best essays can make a huge difference and can sometimes be the decider for college officials sifting through and reading them.

Don’t simply write about your fantasies and qualities and hobbies and what have you – give them a taste of your actual personality (don’t bore them beyond belief!)

You should also start early to avoid grammar errors and such.

You want to sit down with your parents preferably and sort out your financial forms as soon as possible. It’s good to get this all off your shoulders before you really do need to do them.

Also take note of deadlines, and which tests will be required at what dates (mainly standardized tests ran by colleges).

You should also remember to simply relax, as there is obviously a lot going on prior and during college, and of course even after college. The whole process is tough, but don’t worry, you’ll be doing your fair share of partying during college and so you should be looking forward to the whole experience as it can be quite a social experience too. You will get to meet tons of new people.

Don’t stress, you will find the right college sooner or later and you will enjoy it: most people say college was the best few years of their lives – so don’t dread it!
