CSU Chancellor’s Office Announces Spring 2011 Transfer Update

CSU’s To Accept Spring 2011 Transfer Applications
The Chancellor’s Office yesterday afternoon gave the OK to accept eligible upper division transfer student applicants for the spring 2011 semester. The filing period for students to apply for the spring 2011 semester will be from August 1-31!
This is great news because of the rumors that none, or at least very few, of the California State Universities (CSU) would be accepting spring 2011 transfers.
In the note from the Chancellor’s office, it stated that they would be asking all campuses in the CSU system to open for applications through the CSU Mentor system. It’s important to note that the budget situation still may play a big factor as to what campuses will indeed accept spring transfers. But even those college campuses that were prepared to remain closed are asked to accept applications.
A specific note about these college applications:
While these applications may be processed, campuses should not admit applicants until we know more about the budget. If the budget improves to the level proposed by the Governor, then campuses will be in position to admit applicants.
As a safeguard for this complex year due to budget uncertainties, campuses may exceed their annual enrollment targets by no more than 2% to avoid the imposition of a penalty. If we do not receive additional funds to restore enrollment, campuses would need to offer each applicant for spring the opportunity to move the application to fall 2011 or to receive a refund of the collected application fee.
An Important Note for These Spring 2011 CSU Transfers
While all eligible upper division transfer applicants will be able to apply, official offers of admission will be contingent upon state funding. If the funding is not increased to support spring enrollment, applications and associated fees will be returned.
