If a college student was to add up how much they were paying for textbooks during the course of their education, it would add up to thousands of dollars. One thing that we have learned during the economy is that money can’t be thrown around carelessly, because we never know when financial hardship will be knocking at our front doors.

This is one thing that has led many public universities in Ohio to the journey of finding high quality college textbook options for students that doesn’t come with an expensive price tag.

Digital Textbooks Are A Serious Option

Of course this depends upon how many college students actually use the digital textbooks that are currently being offered in select subjects. The opportunity for college students to obtain online versions of their college textbooks instead of becoming victims of rising textbook prices is being presented to them more than it has ever been before.

With Barnes & Noble launching the NOOKstudy program that offers students with the opportunity to have a central resource for all of their college materials and Ohio colleges seeking cheaper textbook options, the demand from both sides of the fence is obviously there.

The Current State of Digital Textbooks Popularity

Currently, digital textbooks only account for slightly over 2% of college textbook sales that are made. However, there is an increase as much as 10% expected this year thanks to the many improvements that higher education is seeing in terms of affordable, yet accessible college course materials.

There’s no doubt that the online learning environment is seeing the making of its history. The internet is being looked to more and more for the answers that we have to provide each and every single day. Not only are online college textbooks more affordable, but they’re a lot more convenient as all you need to access them is a computer with an internet connection.
