College scholarships are in constant demand right now. The economy shows little to no signs of helping students pay for college through working jobs. It’s difficult for parents to contribute to their child’s education when the housing market and unemployment rates are still bad. This is where students should be looking at the private sector to help fund their college education. Foundations such as the Coca Cola Scholarships and the Financial Services Centers of America (FiSCA) help college students pay for school by providing college scholarships.
Recently, FiSCA has awarded scholarships to college bound seniors from communities across the US. This year, for instance, the organization honored 31 students each receiving a scholarship of $2,000 to be used towards educational expenses. In total, $62,000 in college scholarships was awarded by this organization this year.
The criteria for these specific college scholarships included:
- Commitment to Community Service
- Perseverance Over Challenges & Obstacles
- Leadership in School
- Academic Achievement
- A Personal Statement
This scholarship selection criteria is pretty standard amongst the college scholarship organizations. They want to see you involved in and out of the classroom. In addition, they want to hear about any challenges that you have had to over come and how you excelled regardless of those circumstances.
One of the best things you can do when researching and applying for college scholarships is to research the organization first. If you are interested in possibly applying for the FiSCA scholarship next year, you can read more about them here: FiSCA

I’ve heard of the Coca Cola Foundation, but the FISCA college scholarship is a new one for me. Thanks a lot for the information! I’ve been reading your scholarship articles pretty often and I’ve been following them exactly…so far 2 interviews! YEAH!!!
Keep up the great tips, I’m loving them.
I forgot to tell you, my little brother, who is starting college and just out of high school, got a college scholarship. His first application and personal statement got him that scholarship. Amazing huh…He read your Personal Statement article for scholarships and that really helped him…
He’s a little shy and didn’t want to post, so I’m posting for him
THANKS!
I know someone that got a coca cola scholarship. I’ve been trying but I haven’t heard anything. Thanks for these other ideas. I will try this scholarship organization as well. I hadn’t heard of them before.
