Chatanooga College Students Face Delays With Their Pell Grants

One thing that helps a lot of students today is the access to Pell Grants they have, as long as they meet the requirements set forth by the US government. We’re in the middle of a recession and that has forced more and more people to start attending college and that means more people are rushing to try to get their Pell Grant.

With everyone looking for more ways to save money, the government changed the way Pell Grants are fulfilled

The government is quickly finding themselves with a lot of debts these days and this has them forced to cut back funding as much as they can. Instead of eliminating programs, they look at ways that they can keep it without having to pay boatloads of money trying to fund financial aid programs such as Pell Grants.

This is when it was decided that private banks and financial institutions will no longer play a part in issuing Pell Grants, as this process costs the government a lot more than they should have been spending on providing these college grants in the first place.

Colleges affected such as Chatanooga by delaying their payment processor for Pell Grants

Many students found themselves waiting for their Pell Grant check, but never got it when they were supposed to. Colleges such as Chatanooga College found themselves overworked trying to sort out the mess that their payment processing company found themselves in due to this new government decision.

A simple explanation to this is that the colleges who found themselves affected by this situation weren’t receiving the funds from the Pell Grants that their students were supposed to be awarded, causing a whole lot of confusion among students and faculty alike. In this day and age, it really hurts to have such a delay especially when you’re trying to scrape by while getting your college education.

This is a perfect example of why I urge you to diversify your college funding, so that you won’t be sitting in the dark simply because your sole form of financial aid still hasn’t been dispersed yet, even when it was supposed to.
